Seafood to savour

If you’re more keen on good food than restaurant frills, check out the eateries at Tanjung Sepat.

The Ocen Seafood Restaurant is anything but posh, but it has its own rustic charm. Built on stilts and overlooking the sea, it is situated beside Lover’s Bridge, a name locals have given to the Tanjung Sepat jetty in Selangor.

The very satisfying Cantonese noodle done yin yeong style.

Among the popular menu are chilli crabs, claypot beancurd, fish ball soup, steamed white pomfret, sweet and sour prawns, clams in Chinese wine, deepfried chicken with Thai kerabu, oh chien (oyster omelette), stirfried vegetables, and of course white rice and Chinese tea.

One other pleasing dish was the claypot tofu which resembled a thick soup of eggs, crabmeat, shitake mushrooms and broken pieces of white tofu. There were contrasting opinions to this dish.

One diner thought it didn’t look very attractive while another slurped it up with relish. One said the corn flour-thickened broth was reminiscent of shark fins’ soup and with a dash of dark vinegar, it made for a pleasant starter.

My personal experience, I have went there twice and the last visit should be somewhere January. Of all the dishes in menu, clams in Chinese wine is my favourite as their clams are big and juicy with exotic wine flavour together.
